Well maintained and beautiful trail, let down by poor signage.
Te Awa The Great New Zealand River Ride的点评
点评:We rode the river ride from Cambridge to Ngaruawahia, leaving around 10.30am arriving 3ish. The trail is well maintained, being a 3m wide concrete path for nearly all the distance. Some beautiful views, including of the river and the properties adjacent. Don't be fooled that the trail is without challenges - no tricky technical riding skills required, but there are regular short sharp climbs up and down the river banks.
However the trail signage, especially when heading in the downstream direction is atrocious. With a couple of diversions in place at present, expect to be directed off trail and then find no markers to lead you back (at least in the downstream direction). It would be simple to stencil some markers on the trail every few km and where the track branches, but alas. Sometimes the signs point in ambiguous directions, but mostly it's just a lack of guidance for riders. Maybe it works better for riders in the opposite direction. There's also very few km markers or advice of cafes etc. Near Ngaruawahia we encountered a motorbike, riding at high speed on the trail. Extremely dangerous.
