点评:A symbolic place, in time and in history. It offers a poignant reminder of the assassination that sparked World War I.
It is one of the oldest remaining bridges left in the city as an example of a preserved Ottoman Bridge. Nearing the end of our local guide city tour we were brought to the actual site & learned about the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the event that put Sarajevo (Bosnia) into World hot spot and eventually the First World War!
The actual spot where the shot was fired was actually not from Latin bridge, but the building (Muzej Museum) just opposite. The particular spot has turned monumental with pictures and a small plaque to denote the exact location where the assassination took place. in fact the likely foot stance has also been embedded into the ground here! Attached some pics to share.
Unfortunately we were short of time and did not have the opportunity to cross the bridge, only taking some photos of it..
