点评:The Momiji maple trees were in magnificent color this late November Day. The ancient shrine, Kuwayama, was built in 709, over a 1300 years old, has a very rare shape of the roof.
The history told is there was a red lake in the area and when the Gods were digging the land with a hoe (kuwa) the red water dribbled out of the dirt in rippling movements which gave the area its name: Tamba (rippling). It caused the area to have very fertile soil. The Gods dug a wide river between Kyoto and Kameoka and used so many kuwa (hoes) that they piled up to make a mountain (yama) giving the shrine its name Kuwayama.
The shrine is located away from noise and bustle so a complete sense of silence covers the area.
The fall festival starts its route from this shrine. The Parking area costs ¥500 and the license plates were from quite far away. Admission was ¥300.
