点评:At the end of the point along the lakeshore in Grand Marais is natural rock feature emerging from the lake that has been augmented to form a harbor. For me, this combination natural and man-made barrier is the BEST thing to visit and see in Grand Marais, and its name speaks volumes to its beauty.
I was fortunate enough to visit both at dusk and dawn, and in late June, there is not a lot of time between the two. However, this place is made for pictures. The downside to this place is that its beauty makes it popular. Still, despite crowds, there are places, especially on the eastern, natural portion where you can totally be alone.
Naturally, a rock formation offshore enabled the tides to move sand to connect them. Here on the sand portion, the town of Grand Marais was built, and to finish the harbor, they made a man-made jetty to the west with a lighthouse. In the basin is one of the best harbors on Lake Superior and the jewel of Grand Marais. The only advice I can say is to be sure to visit all of it. The pictures are amazing, some of the best nature photos I have ever taken.
