点评：We decided to treat ourselves to the experience at Ashford Castle sort of last minute during our visit to Ireland. Ashford was my mother’s maiden name and I felt that we owed ourselves the experience since we were so close. We originally booked two nights. On our second day we booked a third night! We didn’t want the experience to end!
While some of the rooms are not on the large size,they were well appointed and everything you need, plus you won’t want to spend much time in your room. There is so much to see and do that spending exorbitant money on a room seems unnecessary. We enjoyed the historic boat ride on the lake, taking in views of the castle that otherwise would have been missed. We visited the gardens and stables and took in the falconry’s amazing experience. Flying and learning about the falcons through the magical woods became my husband’s favorite part of the entire trip.
Not to be missed!
Inside the castle, the staff are amazing and make you feel like family, at home. The breakfast is delightful. Dinner at the Dungeon was our favorite. Afternoon tea we missed because we were so busy taking in the area, but I’m sure it would be fit for a queen. Every evening there are local musicians to entertain you while you enjoy a cocktail. The bar area is cozy and classy all in one and we took advantage of it every day. Cullens Cottage across the lane was lovely for dinner and the short drive provided by the driver was much appreciated with the rain that evening. Drivers will also take you into the neighboring town for dinner or it is a short walk if you want to take in the wooded winding road there.
With the holidays coming, I felt a trip to the adorable gift shop, Ms. Tea’s, was in order. I found lovely gifts and a few things to remember the trip with, all tastefully wrapped individually and shipped back to the states for us!
We can’t say enough about our stay except book your stay! It could be the highlight of your trip, as it has been for us. We have already said we would return to Ireland just to stay there again!
