Excellent South Luangwa NP from the Shawa Luangwa Camp

点评：I was in South Luangwa NP in August, 2023. (The form did not give me the option to input that period, so I put Aug 2024.) It was 4-day trip. I was picked up by the very friendly safari guide Jack (Sparrow) and admin staff Fanni at the Mfuwe airport, and was transported to the Shawa Luangwa Camp. When I arrived there were already six other guests in the camp. After two days, I was the only one for the next two days. Jack guided me on all the safaris, a total of eight safaris. The tent accommodation was superb; mine was well above ground. Hearing the animals, mostly elephants and hippos, grazing just outside the tent was an exciting experience. Of course, I was always escorted when leaving from or going to my tent. Jack knew the park well and was very knowledgeable about the wildlife in the park. He guided me to places for the best sightings of the animals. I sighted leopards every day. I was told that there were four dominant female leopard in that area and I sighted at least three of them. This doesn't happen often. I also sighted wild dogs on the 1st day, the first time I have encountered them in the wild. However, they moved to a different park and never saw one again. The Green Safari staff in the camp were very hospitable and went out of their way to accommodate my needs and preferences. I would say it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend the park and the camp site.
