点评:There isn't an awful lot do do in Weissenfels and when we visited, the town centre was remarkably deserted. We did however make our way up the the Schloss - would recommend going up Zeitzer Str hill if you have any mobility issues as the steps next to the 'Battlefield' pub/museum are challenging. The grounds of the castle are sadly neglected and - possibly due to lack of investment - the castle itself could offer so much more. But what is does offer is a very good FREE local history/shoe museum (I have little interest in the history of shoes, but it was well presented). Sadly there is no lift to access the museum which is on the first and second floors, so quite a climb. Next to the museum is the very attractive chapel (you have to ask at the museum reception for them to let you in - luckily the lady there when we visited spoke excellent English).
