点评:The village area of Corolla is a glimpse of the old northern Outer Banks. From north to south, about .5 mile, there are a number of stops worth making. At the northern end on Rte. 12 are the photogenic Corolla Outback wild horse tour hut, cool Beer Garden, and a restored Life Saving Station. Located on the parallel road just west of Rte. 12 are Corolla Chapel with its pelican stained glass window, Corolla Wild Horse Fund museum & gift shop, quaint Island Bookstore, delicious and artsy Kind Cup Coffee & Art, the garage based Spry Creek gift shop, a one (or two) room school house that is still in use. After a short walk down a lush back street the village continues with the stunning grounds of the Currituck Lighthouse (climb for incredible views) and Whalehead Club (tour for a "back-in-time" experience). There are also two free museums worth visiting: the Maritime Wooden Boat Museum and the Wildlife Museum plus a new children's playground. At the time of my visit, many of these places were open Mon-Fri; closed on weekends.
