点评：On 05/28/23, trail is “closed” at the top, so after going up the ladder path you must come back down the same way. I am guessing that it will probably reopen sometime soon.
How to find the entrance to the ladders and slots:
Walking from the trailhead, the sides of the rock are vertical from the ground to the sky, see photo. Keep looking to your left as you walk. There is a triangle hole in the rock. Then there is a pile of rocks; that section is not a vertical wall from ground to sky. Enter thru the pile of rocks by part walking / part scrambling. Now your found the start of the ladder section without arrows 😃
On 5/28/23, we went across the rocks high above the ladder instead of using the 1st ladder. Both would be challenging for a small child bc it needed a pretty long reach.
Coming back down the 3rd to last ladder would also be challenging for a small child bc of the reach that it involves. You have to feel for some of the toeholds rather than see thos toeholds.
I read that the ladders often wash away with each heavy rain / flood thru the slots, and are repositioned again by the hiking club. The 3rd to last ladder was short (may have broken earlier in the year bc I saw a piece of ladder elsewhere) which required the climb up and back down of this section requiring toeholds, and other times of year would be easier if the ladder was longer.
I like scrambling and climbing so definitely a fun and memorable hike.
