Cape Lavender Tea House的点评
点评：The outlook from the veranda tables was very pleasant and the coffee was okay. The food we had left much to be desired. I had a toasted ham and cheese sandwich with salad and at $20, I thought it would be at the least very good. However, it was virtually tasteless and it was only the very small serving of chutney which gave it any flavor at all. I was surprised that there was no butter on the outside (or inside) as has been my experience for decades - this adds considerably to the flavor. The ham seemed to be 'deli' processed type (I may be wrong) and also with hardly any flavor. The cheese was of a Swiss type with holes but again, very little flavor. I am sure it would be better to use a quality ham and a mature cheddar cheese in order to give the sandwich some flavor - plus a little ground pepper or Dijon mustard if necessary. The bread was nice (possibly sourdough) and the sandwich overall was large, but had been cooked in a sandwich press for short time to brown the bread but not left long enough to melt the cheese. I got the impression that the 'cook' was not a professional. The salad was a pile of small leaves only, with vinaigrette type dressing. Overall, most disappointed. My wife had a bacon and egg scone and no doubt the egg was in there (I presume) but you had to look very closely to find any tiny pieces of bacon. Again, there was very little flavor - but the butter was nice even if it was only a very small serving for a large scone. No doubt this cafe relies upon the passing tourist trade and is not worried about getting repeat business. Unless I hear of a positive change, we would not return.
