点评:On our way to Baltimore, we took Claude AI’s recommendation and stopped in Ellicott City. Including the Shrine of St. Anthony in our itinerary was a nice touch.
Although the gardens were slightly past their peak when we visited in late September, I can imagine how beautiful they must be in spring and summer. The chapel, though small, was serene, and we arrived during noon Mass, which was well-attended. In fact, we had trouble finding a parking spot. Afterward, we explored the hallway outside the chapel, where pictures tell the story of St. Anthony.
The property features several walking trails; we chose the one closest to the parking lot. This path led us to a modest 9/11 memorial, including a piece of the World Trade Center site. The gift shop was charming—I picked up a few items. :-) There is also a working farm and a field of solar panels labeled “Brother Sun.” It was good to see a faith community embracing sustainability.
Overall, the shrine provides a good blend of faith, nature, and art. If you find yourself in the Ellicott City area, the Shrine is absolutely worth a quick visit.
