点评:Located at the Southern Tip of the Morning Peninsula is Cape Schanck, separating the wild seas of the Bass Strait and the subdued waters of Western Port. It's most recognisable landmark is Victoria's second lighthouse. Lighthouses with their towering structures, and distinctive shapes with flashing lights, have captured the imagination of poets and writers throughout the ages. It's easy to understand why when you visit.
Leave your car in the generous carpark and go for a walk to visit the lighthouse. There are good paths leading to it that are wheelchair friendly.
Follow the path from the carpark, it will lead you through shrubs full of birdlife and spring flowers (or so it was when I visited) ... you emerge at a grassy reserve... from here you can see the Lighthouse Museum (closed when I was here) on your right and on your left, the lighthouse stands tall and commands your attention.
This lighthouse was built of limestone and towers above you at 61 feet but what it protects is something to behold. Follow the path behind the lighthouse to the lookout and you will see a spectacular rocky coast... wispy clouds dance on the horizon, the calm blue sea's presence filling your view and then the coastline. Birds swoop and swirl following the winds path, the green shrubs along the coastline fighting to retain their dominance with rocky outcrops making their presence known by disallowing complete subservience to the shrubs presence. Soft waves crescendo as they hit the rocks and appear as white plumes in the water.
