点评:It is hard to describe the impact of this Antebellum home, its history, and its careful restoration are spellbinding. The tour begins with a family portrait hall to orient you to time and place; from there it is a tour deforce starting in the 1820's and taking you to present day. What I found most impressive was the recovery of a large percentage of original furnishings, books, and utensils kept to present day by family members.
My wife's family were early American antiques dealers - I thought I had seen it all. Foscue Plantation had furnishings, table ware, and unique family items that were new and surprising. More importantly, some of the demonstrated items were exceptionally clever in their design and finish.
No expense has been spared in the plantation's refurbishment. The research as a foundation for historical/period reproduction of window treatments, carpeting, along with furniture restoration is beyond noteworthy, it is amazing! Are the fireplaces marble or not - they are fabulous.
Last, children will not be bored as the classroom, tutor's attached apartment, and the medical office are a treat. Especially the adult potty chairs.
Do not miss this place, it the "Gem" of Jones County, North Carolina
