点评：Our excursion on the Taboo was a wonderful way to be introduced to the beauty and splendor that makes Mo’orea one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Our guide, Jade, and captain, Swan, made sure we felt comfortable and equipped to maximize the experience!
The boat, Taboo, was comfortable yet spacious enough for the 6 guests (including us) that joined for the early morning tour, which started at 7:30am. One of the benefits of the early tour is getting to locations before the crowds arrive. Our first stop was to swim with the sharks and rays. Since 2017, feeding the wildlife has become illegal, so don’t expect the swarms that appear in some pictures. Still, we did see many and didn’t feel the need to return to that location on a later excursion we had with a different tour company.
Our next stop was the coral garden. Jade joined us in the water and provided a great learning experience, sharing about the various types of fish that swam around us, amongst the beautiful coral.
On our way to our last stop, the underwater Tikis, they served us fresh cut fruit and drinks that included water and various fruit juices. This is intended to be a snack, not a replacement for lunch, so you should pack a sandwich as well.
For us, the Tikis were not as enjoyable. We later learned that they were created by a local artist for the now defunct resort close by and not for cultural reasons, per se.
We highly recommend Voila! The price was right for us and the group was small enough to ensure we didn’t feel lost or overwhelmed in a crowd.
