点评:Exploring the Royal Tombs in Petra was one of those moments where you suddenly realise just how grand this ancient city really was. Carved high into the cliffs overlooking the valley, these enormous façades are impossible to ignore and feel every bit as impressive as Petra’s more famous landmarks.
Walking along the path, each tomb has its own personality—from the striking Urn Tomb to the layered design of the Palace and Corinthian Tombs. The sheer scale of them is mind-blowing, and standing up close, it’s hard not to wonder how on earth the Nabataeans managed to carve structures like this directly into the rock.
What we loved most was how open and uncrowded this area felt compared to the Treasury. You can take your time here, wander in and out of the tombs, and really soak in both the history and the views back across Petra. The light hitting the rock later in the day makes the colours even more dramatic, and it’s easily one of the best spots for photos.
If you’re exploring Petra properly, the Royal Tombs are a must. They offer a quieter, more atmospheric experience and show another powerful side of the Nabataean city beyond the main trail.
If you’re strapped for time and heading to the Monastery, you’ll get a great view of the royal tombs on the way back to the Siq with perfect lighting
