点评:I booked a tour of this historic home, and it turned out to be completely different from what I was expecting in a good way. This home has been in the Wadsworth family for seven generations and has been lived in until several years ago. The home is now part historic home and part event venue. The history is unique and interesting. You tour the lower level of the home (though I was aching to go upstairs), which is the “museum” portion with interesting artifacts, paintings, antiques and personal belongings of the Wadsworth family. Will, our guide, gave a comprehensive and interesting history of the family and home along with stories of the generations. While all that was fascinating, the OCD half of my brain just wanted to start straightening the clutter, dust, polish valuable antiques, do some deep cleaning and get rid of the modern clutter leftover from functions. The entryway looked like an ancient mudroom where generations dropped everything as they walked into the home. The library, while interesting, looked like one of those antique stores that are so cluttered you are afraid to turn around for fear of knocking something over. We got a peek of the kitchen (not on the tour), and it was as disheveled as anything I’ve ever seen. Still, I enjoyed the tour, and enjoyed seeing a home that has been in the same family instead of passing through change after change after change. You must book in advance.
