once at alpe di siusi, hiking the meadows loop should take around 2h with photo stops. the meadows backdrop is sassulongo, one of the most iconic dolomites massif. you can also see this same massif (but the opposite face) from passo sella.
there are many ways to reach alpe di siusi
1. gondola from ortisei, kastelrotto, or siusi
2. shuttle bus or self driven car (before 9 am or after 5 pm) to compatsch parking lot, then begin hiking towards the meadow
3. self driven car with a reservation at a lodging onsite like adler lodge, icaro hotel etc
however you do it, it is an expensive endeavor. prepare to spend approximately 30-35 euros pp for gondola, or similar to that for day parking fees (but this is more cost effective if big group).
