点评:A first stop for our day trip here at Asahikawa, to this ranked Top 100 Most Beautiful City Parks. Tokiwa Park in Asahikawa envelops visitors with its spacious and serenity. WE have entered near the pond and can definitely sense the calm feeling. Willows along the shore dip their drooping branches into the stillness of the water. The water is not too murky and we can see fishes (koi?) swimming in the shallows. There are also ducks gliding above them along the surface, not to mention the birds chirping away..
At one corner there is the Stature of Michitoshi and the Kamikawa shrine build on a small enclosed 'island' within the pond. Walk the tree-lined paths and admire various sculptures throughout the park creating the appearance and functionality of an open-air art museum. And the Hokkaido Asahikawa Museum of Art, is just within the park, but we did not go..
We have been through other similarly sized Japanese Koen but Toiwa offers the spacious and tranquility unlike others. From here we just walked over to Asahi Bridge which is just within minutes.
