点评:Taxi 27 Katakolon (actually Stathis "Andrew" Paraskeuopoulos provided the best guide service on our 10-day Greek Island Cruise. I'll mention the morning hours of the trip included a steady rain, but we had that "Let's do it anyway" attitude. Stathis was waiting for us with ponchos (not the cheap cruise line type) and umbrellas. We were two couples and were not interested in another "big bus" tour. Stathis took us to the Olympia Museum first (because it was raining and he believed the weather would clear up). An hour in the Museum, and only a few Euros to enter, was perfect. We then went to the Zeus Temple/Olympic Stadium site. Yes, it was raining, but it turned to a drizzle and were able to tour the entire site (well...enough of it) to somewhat imagine the almost overwhelming immensity of the site and what it might have looked like hundreds of years ago. Stathis prepared us for the site visit with interesting information. We then visited Klio's Honey farm were Klio herself described the processes involved in her decades old honey business on their small tract of land. What a treat--fresh bakery with fresh honey. Then, it was on to the Koufolias Olive factory. This was truly an informative and special visit. We learned about the ancient process of pressing olives and even saw the old presses. We learned about the types and harvesting variations in harvesting. Finally, the family business provided us with tasting opportunities for a variety of olives, olive oils and other olive-based prodcuts. Before returning to the port, we had the opportunity to stop at a hotel/condo unit by the seashore, take pictures, "think about" coming back for a longer period. Throughout the day, Stathis answered questions, share tidbits about life in the region and, most importantly, became our friend. If you want to see the REAL Katakolon/Olympia area with a personable and professional guide...in a small group...Stathis simply could not be outdone. TV
