点评:Tajhat zamindar house is located in the east south of Rangpur metropolis. The distance of Tajhat from the main metropolis is about three kilometers. Surrounded by history and tradition, Tajhat has ancient monuments and burnt clay plaques. There are various tools used in frontal warfare including swords, ballams used by the then king zamindars. The museum has ancient Drupadi idols.
It is known that Manna Lal Roy, the founder of the zamindar clan, came from Punjab and started living in Rangpur. In Mahiganj of Rangpur he was the first to start the practice of making and buying and selling attractive tajs or jeweled crowns made of gold. It is believed that the region was named Tajhat from this incident. In 1908, Raja Kumar Gopal Lal Roy of the zamindar clan built the zamindar house. The exterior attraction of the Zamindar house is the white marble stone palace. The length of the east-facing two-storied palace is 76.20 meters. The white marble stone palace is 15.24 meters wide. The central staircase of the palace extends to the top floor. There is a big dome in the middle of the palace. In the former, both sides of the staircase of the palace up to the second floor were decorated with statues of Drupal Roman deities in Italian marble stone. Today those Draupadi statues are preserved in the museum inside the palace and newly renovated on both sides of the staircase.
The front of the palace has gabled gabled porches and a 9.14m central porch. The balconies are surmounted by four pillars, surmounted by two triangular chambers. From above, the palace looks like the English letter 'U'. On the ground floor of the palace is the Durbar hall house. The entire interior of the palace has a 3 meter wide verandah. There are also two wooden staircases leading to the upper floors. There are 22 small and big rooms in this palace. The museum also has some early 20th century Sanskrit manuscripts. There are also brass and bronze items of that period. There are manuscripts of the historical stories of Raja Ratan Lal, Giridhari Lal, Upendralal and Maharaja Gopal Roy of the Zamindar clan. Coconut trees standing like sentinels, ponds and various flower gardens add to the beauty of the palace.
From 1984 to 1991, the palace was used as the High Court Bench of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. In 1995, the Bangladesh Directorate of Archeology declared the palace as a protected antiquities, and since then the palace's conservation work has started. In 2002, a proposal to build a museum in part of the palace was passed and implemented in 2005.
