点评:The memorial is impressive as you drive towards it looming in the distance at the top of a rise. There is plenty of parking and signage.
On a very cold, wet and windy day we stood in awe of this memorial site. This memorial is the final resting place for brave soldiers from Australia, Canada, Ireland, Scotland and England, who served their countries and made the ultimate sacrifice. To complain of the cold seemed selfish compared to the hardships and horrors these lads would have endured during the Somme battles.
With the rain the ground quickly turned to slushy mud, so make sure you wear good walking shoes in case the weather turns.
Take your time to walk around and take in the enormity of the sheer loss that war brings and the sadness that comes from reading the headstones, many of them just young lads.
