点评:Note you need to make reservation online to secure the limited slots as the place is closed at other times except the allotted tour hours.
Premise is next to Ho Yan Hor so it is good idea to arrange for both tours on same day.
We enjoyed the tour immensely as it was very informative and the tour started from ground floor up all the way up to top floor (total 3 floors) so expect some stairs.
The tour was conducted by a Mr Leong who did an exceptional job explaining about the history of tin mining and the rich hakka people in Ipoh as well as the purpose of this villa aka “Pet Soo”. FYI he turned on all the air con in advance which was much appreciated gesture.
The 1 hour flew by quickly as he kept us engaged with trivia and jokes.
Many of the exhibits are original antiques and it felt nostalgic stepping on stairs and floorings dating more than 90 years old.
We have been to Ipoh before, and this was our first time joining guided tours. Finally, there is no obligation to donate but it is a good idea to do so since the premise is now leased to a private company.
