点评:Located about 6 miles southeast of the town of Hohenwald, a monument marks the final burial spot of Merriweather Lewis. It's nearby to the ruins of the cabin where he died as well. This monument is part of the longer Natchez Trace Parkway, and they have some nice hiking trails through the woods too.
The monument is solemn and simple. At first we didn't know the column was designed 'broken' to represent a life cut short. We thought it was vandalism. About 200 meters from this monument, there are brick outlines in the ground where the cabin where he died once stood. There was also a building that today is the visitor centre, maybe meant to recreate the old cabins, but it was closed when we were there.
It's free to enter and walk around. Plenty of parking, too. Especially if you are a history buff, this is well worth a visit.
