Saltaire Brewery & Taproom的点评
点评：I decided it was time to go on the Saltaire Brewery Tour after visiting the tap room for years and never getting round to it and only living half a mile away. I've been on tours of breweries in London, Ireland and New Zealand but never my own local one.
It was a stormy, windy day which added to the atmosphere. I was well up for a pint of White Christmas at midday when I arrived (their Christmas ale, an annual tradition now) I also got a bottle of Best (the brewery's recreation of a traditional Best bitter) to take on the tour which was encouraged
The tour, with 8 other enthusiastic patrons from across the UK and a highly knowledgeable tour guide, was great. Just the right balance of the history, science and culture of brewing in general as well as the story of Saltaire Brewery itself. And while it celebrated the past and the success of the brewery over the past two decades this isn't a place that just rests of its laurels and there was a focus especially in the second half on the future and innovation
The buildings are a working brewery and not a museum type tourist attraction and are easy enough to get around. And at the end there are tastings of a variety of the brewery's products back in the taproom included in the ticket price as well as the opportunity to buy extra pints afterwards as most of us did. Just enjoying this moment in time on a stormy December Saturday afternoon
