Kamena Vourla Thermal Waters: Highly Recommended and Free!

点评：Easy to find on a side road north out from the centre of Kamena Vourla, just a short distance away from the main Athens-Thessaloniki motorway. See Google Maps
There is a large car park next to several pools: a large pool and three smaller pools. We had no problem with privacy as it was not busy, but couples mostly came and went quite quickly. Most stayed 15-20 minutes, which is, I guess, the safe maximum. The water was warm, not hot, but very comfortable and with the smell of sulphur, which tells you it is special. We stayed for about 20 minutes and will return next time we pass.
The local authority has done a nice job of making the pools safe. Well done. The pools are effectively self-cleaning, as the water flows in one side and out the other, taking anything such as leaves, insects etc out and away. Highly recommended and FREE!
FYI, the battle of Thermopyles was very close, possibly even where the pools are as this was once a very narrow space with cliffs one side, swamp the other.
