点评:This Collegiate Church doesn't attract as much tourist attention as the famous Monolithic Church. However it's easier to visit because (unlike the Monolithic Church) it's always open, entry is free, and you don’t need to book a tour.
Built by Augustinian monks in the early 12th century, it has an ornate Gothic doorway and a soaring vaulted ceiling.
The stained glass windows (some of which date back to the 13th and 14th centuries) are very impressive. We were there in the early afternoon when the sun was shining through the windows, casting beautiful shades of pink and purple through the church.
Look out for the ancient 12th-century frescoes on the right hand side as you enter (I nearly missed them). Incredible to think that these biblical were painted around 900 years ago. They are mostly very faded. The clearest one showed a horned, red devil leaning over a seated woman. He looks as if he is whispering in her ear, tempting her to evil.
Make sure to walk outside to the 14th century cloisters. The wooden gallery wraps around a square grassy lawn. Over the centuries, Augustinian monks would have walked these corridors in their long, brown robes in quiet prayer and contemplation.
Both the church and cloisters are free to enter.
