Al Dosari Zoo and Game Reserve的点评
点评：While driving around the East/West art installation we saw quite a few road warning signs for oryx and have known about the existence of this zoo that had oryx for a while now so we decided to check it out. We saw the oryx and quite a few other animals we didn't expect to see like hyenas, a lion, pigeons, parrots and African deer. Some enclosures are empty and could use better natural lighting. There is room for improvement to the animal enclosures but we still saw many Arabic families enjoying the park and BBQ area out here. Some of the paths are uneven or slippery so it is best to wear good shoes and watch your footing if you are planning to visit.
There is a small amusement park here as well that we saw quite a few people enjoying. There is a swimming pool and some cabins out here but they were all closed down when we visited. The big draw to this area would be the camel races and camel facilities and that is absolutely worth checking out in Qatar but this is an ok side attraction.
It takes about an hour to get here from Doha and could be combined with other sightseeing in the area but it's not for everyone. The cost to enter the zoo portion is 10 QAR and a man sitting out front sells the tickets. Parking is free but limited and we spent about 30 minutes here on our way back to Doha. It is definitely not a zoo for everyone but we hope with some reinvestment and renovations it could be something.
