点评:Visiting the bunker museum was one of our favourite parts of our week in Belgium! The highlight was definitely being able to join the tour by Olivier, which was particularly striking in contrast to our visit to MAS that morning. The WWII exhibit at MAS was interesting and well-presented but it could have been transplanted into pretty much any affected city. At the bunker museum, Olivier gave us a perspective of the war that was unique to Antwerp, and an understanding of the importance Antwerp had as the only port large enough to sustain the supply chains required.
The museum is only open on a limited number of days (or by prior arrangement), as it is entirely run by volunteers – so that determined which day we visited Antwerp! The admission fee was very cheap, and while it looked small from the outside, it was amazing how much there was to explore inside. The bunker was in good condition, and nice and cool (perfect place to visit on a sweltering hot day!). There was a huge array of authentic items on display, with informative signs in multiple languages.
