Caution Advised Regarding Temazcal Ceremony at Yaan Healing Sanctuary

点评：I recently visited Yaan Healing Sanctuary in Tulum for a private Temazcal ceremony with a group of six in December. While the staff was welcoming and the grounds were beautiful and well-maintained, I feel compelled to share our unfortunate experience.
The ceremony itself was pleasant; however, five out of six women in our group developed skin reactions several days later. These reactions varied from mild irritation to severe conditions due to one of the herbs used during the ceremony, specifically Ruda, which is known to cause skin irritation and sun-reactive burns. This resulted in a condition called phytophotodermatitis, which can lead to long-lasting skin discoloration.
We were not told either before or after the ceremony that such a reaction was possible.
As we return to the US, some of us are still dealing with this skin reaction, and it may take months to resolve. I strongly advise caution if you're considering participating in the Temazcal ceremony, especially regarding the use of specific herbs. It's important to be aware of potential reactions and take necessary precautions.
