A major disappointment, dirty and full of graffiti, no charm at all.

点评：In all honesty I’m exceptionally disappointed in Regensburg, that promised much, but delivered nothing. All the research paints a picture of this pretty little Medieval Bavarian Town, but in reality it’s a dirty, graffiti ridden tourist trap, that’s full of rude and impolite people, a plethora of assorted overpriced shops, and a few museums.
There are a few nice spots, like looking back to the town from the island in the river, and around the stone bridge is ok. There are the odd few buildings and small areas that look nice, but still the overriding and unavoidable perception is that it’s dirty, with graffiti on literally almost every single wall and surface. Honestly you’d think you were in Napoli, or Rome, not a quaint Bavarian town.
I’m no stranger to this sort of place, it’s not my first trip to Bavaria either, but I would seriously consider avoiding Regensburg and go elsewhere. Nuremberg was far nicer, and you’d expect the opposite, go down to Berchtesgaden instead, or even Ingolstadt or Augsburg, just not here. If you compare to some of the beautiful Bohemian towns just over the border, they all put Regensburg to shame.
We are here for 3 more days, and in all honesty we will be getting in the car and heading out to visit other places, rather than spend any more time here.
