点评:I have always wanted to visit this sanctuary and finally had a chance while I was in the area for a weekend nature photography trip. I saw two scrub jays when I first came onto the trail. I then walked the whole trail and didn’t see much aside from a baby gopher tortoise (it was 2 PM and hot). On the way back a family of four curious scrub jays were in the trees around me checking me out. Then it happened: one hopped onto my head! I think it thought the button on top of my hat was food because it wouldn’t stop pecking at it! So thrilling to have a beautiful threatened species interact that way. PS: it is illegal to feed them as it interferes with their natural digestion. They eat bugs, not peanuts. You don’t need to feed them to have them come close to you - just stand still and don’t jump when the hop onto your head. Wear a hat!
