点评：Orhei Vechi is an easy drive (~1 hour) from Chisinau and well worth it. While many people take tours, it is not necessary - the main sites (cave monastery and St. Mary's Church) are easy to access, ~10-15-minute walk from the visitor center. St. Mary's is beautiful and the cave monastery features exceptional views of the Nistru.
Recommend walking past the main sites along the edge of the cliff (the Horseshoe Trail, signs with English translations provided). There's a belvedere (lookout point) at the end of the trail, which runs ~4 miles round trip and is impossible to get lost. The views are incredible and the highlight of the visit.
The Orhei Vechi website advertises bike rentals for 50 lei to visit the surrounding towns. I did that, wouldn't recommend it. My bike was so old that it was probably a hand-me-down from Brezhnev. I'm in pretty good shape but couldn't get halfway up the first hill. Much better to walk.
