点评：The path up to Melville's monument is still closed. Forestry work is in hand, to clear the trees felled by Arwen but there is no indication of when the path will reopen. Not a problem as it is perfectly,possible to continue along the road, past the Deil's cauldron, well worth a looksee if you're a fan of torrents raging over stark rocks, and onto the shaky bridge. The tree canopy was removed a wee while ago but the structure remains in use and is a real credit to its makers. From here the path is, currently, muddy and sometimes underwater, so come prepared. There are also a number of trees still obstructing thre path, which require some degree of clambering over, around or under. Way marks are scattered along the route but carry a map for when you're not sure of your way. The route through Laggan woods and its sessile oaks is particularly lovely. It is perfectly possible to access these woods from Comrie itself, without the necessity of negotiating mud, puddles and fallen trees, but where's the fun in that.
This time of year the trees are full of colour. You may catch the odd glimpse of a red squirrel and, certainly, buzzard and maybe red kite.
I would advise getting out of your clobber as soon as possible on returning to base as nobody likes mud on their carpets!
