Nice and historical church in the center of Rieti

点评：Once we arrived in Rieti, before moving on to the more distant attractions, we decided to visit those in the city center.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is in fact im the historic center of Rieti.
The first construction dates back to the 6th century, was modified and then partially rebuilt in the 12th century.
The city was often chosen as the papal seat, especially during the 13th century, and for this reason the Cathedral had several Popes celebrate mass within its walls.
The exterior of the church is Romanesque in style and contrasts sharply with the Baroque interior, the result of influences and modifications subsequent to its construction.
Upon entering, don't forget to look up, especially inside the chapels.
The domes above them are marvelous, especially that of the Holy Sacrament.
The crypt, also in Romanesque style, deserves special attention.
