A Short Stretch - The Slaughters to Bourton-on-the-Water
Warden's Way的点评
点评：Wardens' Way is one of the many beautiful walking trails in the Cotswolds area. It features easy paths that lead through very scenic countryside. We walked alongside small rivers and waterways, across meadows and farmland, and passed through charming villages with honey-stone cottages.
The trail runs between Bourton-on-the-Water and Winchcombe and if you were to do the whole thing, it is a 22 km walk.
A very popular stretch is between Bourton-on-the-Water and Lower Slaughter. This is what we did. It’s a relatively short, easy trail with a fairly clearly defined path.
The picture-perfect twin villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter was a highlight of the walk. Bourton-on-the-Water is also one of the most charming of the Cotswold towns. The Windrush River flows through the middle of the town, swans glide past, and and 5 small, low-arched stone bridges criss-cross the waterway.
TIPS:
Overall, this was a very easy stretch of the Wardens’ Way. It’s mostly level and flat and is signposted along the way. Look for green directional signs ‘Warden’s Way’ signs. They look much like a regular street sign, but green. It’s worth noting that the signs are irregular and are fairly spaced out. Even so, it’s not hard to find your way and there’s lots of information on available online, including maps. Although some of the walk is shaded, a lot of the time you are walking out in the open so in summer, you’d want to take sunscreen, a hat and a water bottle.
