点评：The square received its beautiful name from the palace of the same name, which in turn received its name from Diego de Anaya Maldonado, the founder of St. Bartholomew's College at the beginning of the XV century. However, there was no square then. Anaya Square owes its appearance in 1811 to the French occupiers. The French governor of old Castile, General Paul Thibault, who lived in the Anaya Palace, ordered the demolition of the block between the palace and the New Cathedral to open up a view of its northern side. The final appearance of the square was acquired after reconstruction in 1972 - 1975 under the direction of architect Victor Caballero Ungria. The dominant feature of the square is the cathedral. Opposite is the same Anaya Palace that gave the square its name. In fact, this is not a palace, but the building of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Salamanca. To his left is the Church of San Sebastian, the former university chapel. The perimeter of the square is closed from the west by three-storey houses, also belonging to the University of Salamanca.
