Emirates Old Trafford的点评
点评：I’ve attended several gigs at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. My favourite thing about it is the fact they have lots of free water fountains dotted around. This means you can take an empty (non metal) bottle in with you and stay hydrated for free. For context: if you buy a bottle of water from the venders, they charge you £2.50 for a 330ml bottle, and they HAVE to pour it into a paper cup. Not ideal when you’re on the floor, being jostled around.
Food and drink is in line with other places. In July 2024 at foo fighters, it was £7 a pint, I paid £13 for an individual pizza and a portion of chips (small box) was £6.50).
The toilet queues aren’t usually too bad. There’s main toilets and also loads of portaloos.
If you have floor tickets and want to get near the front, get there early. They give people wrist bands to be near the front and have a barrier about 1/4 back to prevent surging. Once the bands run out, the front part is at capacity, end of story. This helps create a comrade atmosphere and means people are happier to let you leave for refreshments etc when needed.
I’ve attended literally hundreds of gigs around the UK & feel this approach should be adopted by all venues. There’s far less trouble as a result. Be mindful drinks WILL be spilt if you’re on the floor. It’s inevitable when the show starts. This is when the free water becomes amazing. I tend to drink alcohol through the warm up acts and then switch to water afterwards.
Parking can be a nightmare. My friend always drives. We usually pay about £15 in a nearby school / college car park. It’s fine if you’re early. However it can take actual hours to get out of the area after the show. We saw the killers in 2022 and foo fighters in 2024 and it took over 2 hours both times before we went over 2mph. Personally i prefer to get the metrolink when I go here. It works out faster and cheaper every time. (Admittedly you are crammed in like sardines but you’re back in Manchester within 10 mins).
All things considered, this is by far my favourite stadium in the north west to watch a show. (I’ve not tried every single stadium admittedly, but this one is definitely a contender for me).
(They do thorough bag and body searches and will seize full bottles, so don’t try that).
