King’s Council Chamber的点评
点评：Right next to the Royal Palace in Polonnaruwa is the Council Chamber of King Parakramabahu — and it’s definitely worth stopping to see.
The chamber isn’t a big building, but it’s full of incredible details. Stone pillars stand in neat rows, and at the top of the steps, you’re greeted by beautiful carvings, including lion figures guarding the entrance. I found it amazing how well these carvings have survived after so many centuries.
It’s easy to imagine this as the place where the king met with his ministers to make important decisions about the kingdom. Standing there, you can almost feel the weight of history in the air.
The chamber is surrounded by trees and nature, which makes it a peaceful spot to explore. It’s not as crowded as other parts of Polonnaruwa, so you can take your time and really enjoy it.
Tip: Don’t rush through — look closely at the stonework and the lions. They’re beautifully done and give you a glimpse into the artistry of ancient Sri Lanka.
