An ancient well preserved council of ministers monument in the King's Palace Complex, Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka.
King’s Council Chamber的点评
点评:A small but impressive ruins of the King's Council of Ministers at Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka, it is obvious that the compact building was a wooden structure.
The council of ministers were, presumably, facing sideways to the throne and were not directly facing the kings.
In other words, the concept of round table conference was not in existence during the reign of the Sri Lankan Kings.
There is also a rather well preserved septic tank right next to the building which indicates that sanitation was given importance even a thousand years ago.
The moonstone at the entrance is intricately carved with two ornate stone lions guard the entrance.
Located next to the Hatadage building, it is possible that the royal residence was not used for royal business purposes.
An interesting monument in the palace complex, Polonnaruwa.
Recommended.
