点评:We 2 visited on a Sunday in Dec. An outstanding value that exceeded expectations, with a very low entrance fee. We planned on spending a couple of hours, and were there for about four. :-O
The temporary exhibit about omocha-e (Edo-era woodblock prints for toys / games) was excellent. The explanatory signs were all in Japanese. (No audioguide available.)
The permanent exhibitions for salt and tobacco were very informative and interesting. Signs and videos were in both Japanese and English. Very well-organized. Free audioguides in multiple languages; two types: (1) app you can download (over the free WiFi in the museum if you wish) to your Android or iPhone and listen to with your own earbuds, or (2) physical device with comfortable headset that you can borrow (1000 yen deposit).
The tobacco section of the museum included a display of cigarette package designs/brands from various countries - e.g. North Korea - and another display showing the evolution of Japanese brands through the decades, such as when brands switched from Western-style names to purely Japanese names in 1940.
