Absolute gem that is worth travelling to!

点评：We’ve lived in Nth Lincs over 35 years and this was our first visit. We had no idea what a gem it is! Well worth travelling to it - it’s not just for locals.
This visit compares favourably with a trip to a National trust property - it was that good. Understandably No photography is allowed in the house. Because it’s still very much a family home there’s none of those annoying ‘ropes’ keeping you from looking closely at things. We even had a nice chat with the ‘lady of the manor’ 😄
We went as part of a group so our booking was all done for us - it’s only open c30 days pa but it’s worth the effort to organise it. £13-15 for house & garden was fairly priced.
The house and Sutton- Nelthorpe family history go back to c 1600 and we really enjoyed a thorough tour of the house hearing about its history. The artist Stubbs gets a fair bit of mention 👍.
The substantial gardens were immaculate and very impressive.
The volunteers at Scawby church,just a 2 min walk from the garden, provide tea and cakes in the church.
