点评:We were lucky enough to have a 2pm. tour and to be the only visitors. It has been described as a much loved family home, one that invariably charms all who enter. The owner, Mr. Mockler-Barrett, has described it as "relaxed, informal and shabby-genteel." The history of the house is fascinating, but what one remembers is the welcoming atmosphere and stepping back into the past. In truth it was a joy to find a property which had not been over restored, manicured and painted Germoline pink.
We enjoyed the walled garden and were the only ones there and have to admit to scrumping a couple of apples. We then had tea sitting at a table on the grass, from a George V Coronation teapot. A passing Shetland pony took a particular interest in our generous slices of scrumptious home made cake.
Thank you for the best afternoon we have had all year!
