Adelaide Arcade的点评
点评：Like most visitors to Adelaide, we strolled through Rundle Mall, the city’s main shopping centre. We were not much interested in shopping but its a nice mall, with several striking sculptures and some lovely old buildings.
The most famous of these historic buildings is Beehive Corner but the beautifully restored 19th century Adelaide Arcade, with its old-world charm, is also worth a look.
It first opened its doors in 1885. The Governor visited, a crowd gathered and an orchestra played ‘The Adelaide Arcade Polka’. It was all terribly grand.
Today, it houses a range of upmarket shops and one-off, even quirky, shops. If you are in the market for buttons or vintage comics, you will find a shop selling it here.
There are a number of jewellers (including a Rolex shop) as well as a range of clothing and homeware shops. Essence of Australia and Gallery 33 have higher-end Australian souvenirs and Indigenous artwork.
There is a Haigh’s Chocolate shop but really, if you’re after Haighs, you should go to the original store in Beehive Corner instead.
