点评:Maybe it was because it was a cold and frosty morning here in Berkshire today, but whatever the reason I was very fortunate to be the only visitor to the museum between 10am and Midday. So I was lucky enough to get my exclusive guided tour from Dave, who is an ex-policeman and volunteer here. Having read books about the Great Train Robbery and vaguely remembering snippets of the story from my childhood, I was very keen to see the mock up room, filled with genuine articles recovered from Leatherslade farm, including the Monopoly board that members of the gang played -using some of the stolen notes, as well as the crime scene photos, and it really didn't disappoint. As well as lots of items from the very early days of Policing, there are other excellent displays of more recent events such as The Hungerford Massacre and The Ufton Nervet train crash. Dave's insider knowledge of all these events combined with his ability to describe them in forensic details adding in information only discovered sometimes many years after the event made it an incredibly interesting couple of hours. My only complaint? despite it being a very small room, there was so much of interest to see, read, and thanks to Dave- to discuss, that I didn't actually see a lot of it, so will be returning soon to see what I missed.
