点评:We were going to a concert here in the evening so thought we'd explore the museum during the day. It's only small but what an excellent job they've made of bringing it to life, with animation and sounds, and plenty of information boards and photos.
It's the last remaining salt works in an area once littered with them. It's been sympathetically converted without taking away it's soul, so you can see the original floor boards, the holes in the roof where the steam would have escaped, the corroded salt pans etc. It's not expensive and you walk round various buildings following the process. There's plenty of parking and it has a cafe which at the moment is only serving snacks and drinks but has plans. Being next door to the Trent & Mersey canal you could also go for a walk.
The concert was upstairs, which has a reasonable space and was an excellent small concert venue. There's a lift and upstairs toilets as well and they have an impromptu bar. They also hold other events and have a children's science club.
