Perfect start
Ipswich Visitor Information Centre的点评
点评：I titled this "a perfect start" as we managed to have beautiful weather to sit on the VIC verandah and enjoy our tea/coffee/water and biscuits and little cakes for morning tea. There were 38 us from the Yeronga Probus Club. I had made arrangements with Sarah over a few emails and she was most helpful and we met her on the day. In fact all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were made to feel so welcome.
We would have liked to stay longer and spend time in the enticing looking shop, however, we were running half an hour late due to our tour bus being caught up in shocking traffic in Brisbane on the way to picking us up.
So we had to hurry along because we had arranged for Sandra (a VIC volunteer tour guide) to hop on our bus and take us on a tour of many incredible heritage homes and buildings. She arranged for us to view inside St. Mary's Church, built in 1874. We all enjoyed her tour immensely and were very impressed with Sandra's vast knowledge of Ipswich.
After dropping her back at VIC, we proceeded to Ipswich Little Theatre (also referred to as the Incinerator Theatre) for a delicious home made lunch followed by a short live presentation in the heritage listed theatre. I shall put some comments down separately re this destination. It is a real "gem" in Ipswich and strangely not enough guests knew about it. The heritage listed Incinerator used to burn waste from 1936 but decommissioned in the early 1960s. Saved by the Little Theatre in 1969. It is renowned for being the only building in Queensland designed by Walter Burley Griffin who also designed the city of Canberra.
