点评:As initial background, my teen son and I play a fair amount of golf and typically shoot in the mid-70s to low 80s. We play a lot of golf on vacation. To begin with, our experience checking in at the clubhouse set a bad tone for the start of the round. The person who checked us in was rude and very unfriendly. Gave us no information, and when I asked a question he seemed annoyed. Not the person who should be checking in guests let alone at a golf course charging $200 pp (w/clubs). His demeanor was completely inconsistent with our other experiences with the wonderful people of Costa Rica. The opposite of pura vida.
Next, the driving range was an adequate grass range. Plenty of warm up balls included. Upon arriving at the first tee for our early tee time, we noticed that the course was dry and brown—it did not look like the lush green course depicted in online photos. Perhaps this is normal in April but it was disappointing. The rental Titliest clubs were 8 years old or so. The Scotty C putter grip had never been changed and definitely showed its age.
The course, itself, is a relatively fun resort course layout. Wide fairways. The greens were firm and in decent shape despite being somewhat dry. There is really only one ocean front/view hole, the rest of the course is inland. Lots of iguanas all over the course, which was kind of fun to see. Unfortunately, there were a lot of aggressive wasps/hornet throughout the course. We were almost stung several times and we saw other golfers running from them. When we left, we saw an employee in a beekeeper suit with a swarm around him. Bugs are expected in CR but they need to get the wasp/hornet
problem under control. With just two of us and no one in front of us, we did play the round in 3:10.
All in all, an OK day at the golf course is still better than most things. I do wish we would’ve played at Conchal instead.
