点评:I have just returned home after 19 hours of driving to pick up my 85 and 83 yr old parents who were abandoned at the cruise pier in New York City, Manhattan by Maple Leaf tours, after participating in a chaperoned cruise vacation south. When my father tested positive 1 1/2 days before the end of the trip, Maple Leaf tours basically stated, “you can’t come home with us on the bus, you are on your own”. My parents (at their age) were extremely confused and scared and did not know what to do. They had paid for a trip where they would be kept safe and be helped in navigating any issues that arose. There were no screening requests for Covid prior to boarding and there are no current guidelines required for air travel, border crossing or anything else regarding Covid-19 protocols, yet the Maple Leaf tour group left two senior citizens abandoned at a wharf in Manhattan, 10 hours away from any family assistance. The owner should be mortified that this is the standard that she has chosen to accept and that while I have left 3 messages to discuss the events in question, I have still yet to receive a return call three days after they left my parents. It was fortunate for my parents that they had my wife and I capable to find our way down to assist them, so I can't even imagine what would happen to seniors who do not have that as an option. There wasn’t any discussion around alternative solutions other than, “they cannot return home on the bus and their bags will be off loaded with them at the pier to find another way”. They paid a chaperone fee, and the owner is obviously putting that in their pocket with no conscience around the impact to senior citizens in these types of situations. This to me is abhorrent behaviour and not indicative of an organization that cares for its clients but is merely there for a profitable return without having a conscience or regard for their clients. We incurred numerous costs to return them back home safe; with time off of work, gas, hotels, food and such. The reality is that it's not about the money spent, as it is about the fact they risked my parent's SAFETY with no concern or follow up. They are just another means to put money in the owner's pocket without any accountability for the safety of their clients. All in all, a pretty horrific experience and one that I will not let be or put to bed sort of speak until some protection for clients is put in place. DO NOT FEEL THAT YOUR FAMILY IS SAFE WHEN WORKING WITH THIS ORGANIZATION. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT THE MONEY THEY ARE MAKING UP FRONT.
