We had to use all our drinking water bottles to cool the engine and get to a less isolated area. Fortunately, after an hour of driving, we found another tour company that provided us with more water to reach the hotel.
I requested a different car and a satellite radio for the next day’s tour due to the previous day’s issues and the air conditioner expelling a lot of dust. To my dismay, they showed up with the same car and no satellite radio. I insisted on getting the satellite radio, so we drove to their office in Uyuni to get one. After completing the second day tour at night, we were all sick from the dust we inhaled from the air conditioner, which took us a couple of days to recover from.
I asked for at least a partial reimbursement, but they refused. In summary, if you’re planning a tour in Uyuni, ensure the company provides optimal equipment and a reliable means of communication. I cannot recommend Hidalgo Corporation as they take safety lightly, which is dangerous. Additionally, I discovered on the second day that the car we used was on sale, raising concerns about its suitability for long trips (8/9 hours).
