One of My Best Cycling Experiences
Cycle Sierra Nevada的点评
点评：Cycle Sierra Nevada is so much more than an equipment hire shop as per Tripadvisor. Cormac (the owner) has put together a first class operation that made for an incredible week with them.
Velez de Benaudalla is on the doorstep of endless mountain terrain in the Sierra Nevadas. There are a huge variety of routes and climbs to fit any cyclist. The roads are world class: wide smooth tarmac roads with quiet traffic that made it feel very safe and relaxed. We were a group of 8 from London, and we rode with another 6 cyclists depending on the day. Understandably, there was a range of abilities. However with Cormac, Szymon, Luka and Peter as our four guides, we had the perfect setup to accommodate various fitness levels. We generally stayed together, but then would get let loose to tackle a 12km climb (or even a long non-technical descent back into town) as hard as we wanted. We would then regroup or meet at a cozy café for tasty tostados. The guides were excellent at customizing routes based on our abilities and preferences, ensuring everyone had a great time.
Rider safety was clearly a top priority for CSN. On the descents, guides would warn about tricky corners, advise us not to cut corners and also which sections of roads might have debris. It was evident that the guides genuinely enjoyed cycling. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and they were always ready to work with us when it was time to ride hard. They took immense pleasure in showing us breath-taking vistas and fun descents, making every ride a new adventure. The planned café stops were frequent, so we didn't need to force feed ourselves gels.
CSN had logistics perfectly covered. Airport transfers were seamless, even with our group arriving at different times. We stayed in comfortable apartments equipped with kitchens and, crucially, a washing machine. The complex also had a refreshing pool. Everything we needed—apartments, groceries, restaurants—was within easy walking distance from the cycling shop, adding to the convenience.
What I loved most about our week with CSN was feeling pampered. Mornings started with a 9am meetup where the guides would pour us coffee, chat, and brief us on the day’s route before setting out. When my bike had a few issues, CSN's on-site mechanic and workshop sorted it out. A highlight was being taken one evening out to a beach town nearby, enjoying a delicious dinner with spectacular views.
In conclusion, Cycle Sierra Nevada provided an incredibly enjoyable and well-organized cycling experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic cycling holiday where every detail is thoughtfully managed.
